Toffees boss confident goals will come for Australian star

David Moyes is confident Tim Cahill will soon be back on the goal trail for Everton and underlining his value to the Goodison Park cause. The Australia international has established a reputation down the years for being one of the Premier League's most consistent goal-getters from a deep-lying role. He has, however, failed to find the target for the Toffees in over 11 months months, with his last goal coming on 20th December, 2010. Cahill has come close on numerous occasions to ending that drought, but luck has deserted him. Moyes is convinced the 32-year-old will enjoy a reversal in fortune in the near future and is backing him to notch close to double figures again this term. "It has been difficult for Tim," said the Scot. "He has not really recovered correctly since he came back from the Asian Cup last season and he has found it quite tough since then.

Tally

"I have no doubt his goals will come - he will get his goals; he has got them every other year and I've no reason to think he won't. "The sooner he starts the better but I believe he will get his usual tally of between eight and 10 goals a season." Everton were able to see off Wolves last time out without the need for Cahill to find the target, with a 2-1 win lifting them into 12th place in the Premier League table. Ahead of a weekend meeting with Stoke that will offer the Toffees an opportunity to push further towards the top-half of the division, Moyes added: "It is great for everyone to see themselves not in the bottom part of the league. "But until you get 40 points you are always looking over your shoulder, whether you are 12th or 17th just now it doesn't make any difference. "We still have to get the points but it was a great win for us last week because we needed it as a confidence-booster and to move us up the league. "We have to take it into the next game and try to win that."
