Teenager rewarded after recently making his first-team debut

Arsenal defender Nico Yennaris has signed a contract extension with the Gunners just weeks after he made his first-team debut. The 18-year-old played the entire match in his favoured right-back position when Arsenal defeated Bolton 2-1 in the Carling Cup fourth round last month. Yennaris joined Arsene Wenger's team at seven years of age and has worked his way through the youth ranks until finally signing professionally in the summer of 2010. The England youth international made six appearances for Arsenal reserves last season after featuring three times for the Under-18s before his campaign was ended by an ankle injury in an FA Youth Cup defeat by Chelsea. He captained the Arsenal Under-18s side to the Premier Academy League title in 2010 and he is now a regular for the reserves.
