France coach Laurent Blanc has explained the decision to leave Patrice Evra out of his latest squad.

United defender will not feature against USA and Belgium

France coach Laurent Blanc has explained the decision to leave Patrice Evra out of his squad for the forthcoming friendlies with USA and Belgium. The Manchester United left-back, who captained his country during their miserable 2010 World Cup campaign, was not included in the party for the forthcoming fixtures. Blanc claims that he wanted to rest the talented defender after a hectic start to the season and that the 30-year-old was also dealing with a personal trauma, reported to be the death of his older brother. France booked their place at the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine by finishing top of Group D, just one point ahead of Bosnia & Herzegovina. Blanc said: "He has played a lot recently. He has been always on the go since the start of the season. "I had a phone call with him. "Moreover, Patrice has been affected by a family drama."
