West Brom set to loan out midfielder

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that they looking to loan out midfielder George Thorne. The 18-year-old is on the fringes of the first-team squad at the Hawthorns and has featured in the Carling Cup twice this year. After being linked with a move, Baggies boss Roy Hodgson has confirmed he would be willing to let him go on loan - but only if he gets first-team action. "We would look to loan him out as long as we keep the rest of the midfield players intact," said Hodgson. "But it would have to be somewhere I thought the move was going to benefit him. "Because he gets a lot of work with us in training and is playing at a high level. "He is up against good quality opponents. "He's getting an intensive level of training. "The downside is that come the weekend he is not getting a match in front of thousands of people. "I'd want him to be going somewhere where the training and intensity was good and the matches would be interesting and educational for him. "But most importantly he is taken because the person taking him wants him to be one of the first names on the team-sheet. "What you find often with loans, is club's carrying small squads get a couple of injuries and go out and loan players just maybe to shore up for a week or two. "That's the balance. We'd listen but we take everything on face value and we'd see."
