Trialist believes he could make a big contribution at Brighton

Brighton trialist Darren Carter is hoping he has done enough to secure a deal at the Amex Stadium. The former Birmingham and Preston midfielder, currently a free agent, has been training with the Seagulls for the last 10 days and scored on his debut for the reserves against Bournemouth on Tuesday. Carter, 27, is now waiting to hear whether boss Gus Poyet will offer him a deal, and insists he has plenty to offer the club.

Confident

"I'm very confident. I wouldn't be down here, wasting my time or the gaffer's time, if I didn't feel I could make a big contribution," Carter told the Argus. "I've always been an ambitious person anyway and I've still got a lot of things I want to achieve in my career. "All I need is an opportunity, that is all I am looking for. I have been working my socks off where ever I have been, especially this year, to just get an opportunity to prove to people I've got it at this level and higher."
