Caley youngster 'champing at the bit' to return

Inverness Caledonian Thistle midfielder Lee Cox is closing in on a first-team return following a lengthy injury lay-off. The 21-year-old has been unavailable for manager Terry Butcher for the past three months after undergoing knee surgery. Butcher knows the loss of Cox has been a big blow for the team, although the youngster is now 'champing at the bit' to return to the fold. It remains to be seen if this weekend's trip to St Johnstone comes too soon for Cox or whether Butcher holds him back to face Dunfermline a week on Saturday.

Influential

"Lee has been a bad miss for us," Butcher told the club's official website. "It's been a difficult time for him and he's been champing at the bit to get his season started. "But he's now in good shape and raring to go. The game at Perth is just too soon for him but continued work should see him in the reckoning after that. "He can be an influential factor in the midfield and it's a big lift to see Lee training and working hard."
