Veteran striker up for competition

Veteran striker Brett Ormerod insists he still has a big part to play in Blackpool's season. Ormerod started the first game of the Seasiders' campaign but has been rotated with fellow forwards Kevin Phillips, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Daniel Bogdanovic. The 34-year-old forward came off the bench to net his first goal of the season in Blackpool's last game against Bristol City and hopes he did enough to impress manager Ian Holloway. "No matter what age I am, I want to be involved in every game. But with the squad we have, it is not always possible," Ormerod told the Blackpool Gazette. "It is frustrating sometimes, but you have to keep going and try not to get too downhearted. You need to keep pegging away and hope you get a chance. "We have a hell of a squad, and some fantastic players are not even on the bench. It keeps everyone on their toes, and I don't envy the gaffer trying to pick a team."
