Miroslav Klose has quashed rumours of his international retirement as he wants to break Germany's goalscoring record.
But faces competition from Mario Gomez
Germany's Miroslav Klose has not ruled out the possibility of appearing in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with the striker hell-bent on surpassing Gerd Muller's goalscoring record.
Ahead of Germany's European Championship qualifier against Turkey on Friday, Klose has admitted retirement had not crossed his mind as he sits six goals short of the national record on 62.
The 33-year-old's place in the starting XI could be heavily contested by in-form Bayern Munich striker Mario Gomez but this has not dented his ambitions.
"I never have fear," Klose told the Bild newspaper.
"It is all down to me anyway - when I am fit, I will play. And I am feeling really good.
"I want to break the record with the national team now.
"We want to win all 10 qualifying matches and then I will speak with the coach about my future.
"I am a spontaneous person and I make my decision about when I retire from my gut feeling.
"But for as long as I am enjoying myself and am free of injury, then I want to keep playing."
The forward has three goals to his name already this season after a summer move to Lazio from Bundesliga giants Bayern.
