Cameroonian star never walks alone in Russia

Samuel Eto'o has compared Anzhi fans to those of Liverpool after being overwhelmed by the Russian club's support. Cameroon striker Eto'o moved to Anzhi at the back end of the summer transfer window, becoming football's highest paid player in the process. He has made a flying start to life in Russia's top flight, scoring two goals in his three appearances, including one on his debut from the substitute's bench. Eto'o played in Anfield on a number of occasions during his time at Barcelona and he has compared Anzhi's support to that of Liverpool. "Of course I felt their support," Eto'o told Anzhi's official website after their 1-0 loss at Kuban, where some 2,000 away supporters were in full voice despite a disappointing defeat. "My team-mates and I personally are very thankful to them. Owing to our supporters we never feel lonely in away matches. "They're like Liverpool fans with their famous hymn, 'You'll Never Walk Alone'."
