De Rossi talks hit deadlock

Negotiations over a contract renewal for Roma ace Daniele De Rossi have reached a stalemate, says club chief Claudio Fenucci.

Roma chief hopeful of solving the matter

Negotiations over a possible contract renewal for Roma ace Daniele De Rossi have reached a stalemate, according to club chief Claudio Fenucci. The Italy international, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City, will be a free agent when his contract expires next June, meaning the Serie A club risk losing him for nothing. The 28-year-old has been in talks with Roma over a new deal but has made it clear he wants his wage demands met. Fenucci admits negotiations have ground to a halt for the time being, but is hopeful of reaching a solution. "At the moment there is no news," he said. "All players have the ambition to earn more and it's the club's duty not to go over costs. But Daniele is an important player. "There are no meetings planned but I'm sure we will solve the matter."
