Wolves midfielder successfully features for reserves

Wolves midfielder David Edwards is delighted to have finally won his long-term fitness battle against a back injury. The Wales international has been out of action since February after featuring in Wolves' 4-0 Premier League win over Blackpool. Edwards has now appeared for the club's reserves against Newcastle and he is thrilled to be one step closer to a first-team return. The 25-year-old admits there were dark times during his six months on the sidelines as it was the longest spell he had been out of action.

Longest

"It's been the longest time I've had out in my career," he told the Express and Star. "It's been a hard six months because there were times when I thought I was nearly fit and others when I felt a million miles away. "It's nice to hopefully come through the other side but now I've got to work extra hard to keep myself fit and avoid future problems. "It has been a frustrating time, especially the two or three times I thought I was close and then had another setback. "I've got a good support team around me and have managed to come through it."
