Palace and Charlton keen on Crawley frontman

Skysports.com understands Crystal Palace and Charlton are lining up bids for Crawley striker Matt Tubbs. The 27-year-old caught the eye last season as he helped fire Crawley to the Blue Square Premier title. He plundered 40 goals in 48 appearances in all competitions last term, helping him to raise his profile considerably. Tubbs is now gracing the Football League ranks on a permanent basis and is determined to prove that he can cut it on that stage. He did take in a loan spell at Bournemouth in 2008, but struggled to produce his best. He has come a long way since then, though, and it is no surprise to find that a number of clubs are closely monitoring his situation. Crawley would be reluctant to part with their most potent attacking weapon, but Palace and Charlton may test their resolve before the transfer window slams shut.
