Boss confirms three-month absence for midfielder

Birmingham manager Chris Hughton has confirmed young midfielder Jordon Mutch could be out for up to three months with a broken ankle. The 19-year-old sustained the injury during training last week and an MRI scan revealed a break that requires surgery, putting the midfielder out of action until at least the end of November. Following confirmation of the injury the Blues board sanctioned the six-month loan signing of Guirane N'Daw from French side St Etienne on Tuesday as a replacement. "It has been confirmed that he [Mutch] has broken his ankle which will keep him out for a period of about three months and that is a big blow for us," Hughton told the club's official website. "Jordon was a big player for us in the pre-season period and in the first couple of games and his form was very good. "A lot of our play went through him and that's about the quality he has got. He is a super passer of the ball and that will be a big miss for us. "But these are the unfortunate things you have to work around and of course that will always give someone else an opportunity."
