Werder Bremen chairman Willi Lemke would be prepared to sell Per Mertesacker in the transfer window.

Decision regarding centre-back's future rests with Schaaf

Werder Bremen chairman Willi Lemke would be prepared to sell Per Mertesacker in the current transfer window. The Weserstadion official has revealed he would listen to offers for the centre-back, and goalkeeper Tim Wiese, if manager Thomas Schaaf believed it was the best decision. Mertesacker has entered the final year of his contract and has for several years been linked with Arsenal, who have money to spend following the sale of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. Wiese is also on an expiring deal and recently admitted discusses regarding an extension had been put on hold until the autumn. Lemke told Welt am Sonntag newspaper: "If the sporting authorities come and ask, we would grant their request for selling these players. "Simply because they are on outrunning deals and unlike this season we would not receive any money for their services next summer."
