Boro hand out new contract to striker

Middlesbrough have handed a new contract to Dutch forward Marvin Emnes. Just 24-hours after confirming the sale of Leroy Lita to Swansea, Boro made sure Emnes would not be following him to South Wales. Emnes spent time on loan at Swansea last season and they wanted him on a permanent basis, but he has now signed a three-year extension committing himself to the club until 2015. "We are delighted to have secured Marvin on a new, long-term contract," said manager Tony Mowbray. "After his successful loan spell with Swansea, Marvin came back into our team and made a huge impact towards the end of the season. "He can be a big player for us again this year and it is a major boost for us that he wants to be part of our future and achieve his ambitions with Middlesbrough."
