Two-year deal for unattached Romania striker

Schalke have completed the signing of Romania international Ciprian Andrei Marica on a free transfer. Released from his contract with Stuttgart earlier this summer, the 25-year-old has penned a two-year deal. The capture should bring an end to Schalke's pursuit of Brest striker Nolan Roux, and first-team coach Horst Heldt is 'delighted' with the singing. "Ciprian is definitely the striker we have been looking for," he told the club's official website. "He knows the Bundesliga, he is able to speak various languages and in addition to this he was available on a free transfer. "We are delighted to see this deal going through because there were plenty of other clubs in Europe keen on signing him."
