Chelsea send youngster straight out after signing from Genk

Chelsea have sent new goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois straight out on loan to Atletico Madrid for the upcoming campaign. The Premier League side recently signed the Belgian keeper from Genk but the 19-year-old is seen as one for the future. The Blues were therefore willing to give Courtois the chance to develop with Atletico, as he is expected to have a greater chance of first-team football at the Vicente Calderon. Atletico needed to boost their goalkeeping ranks after selling first-choice keeper David de Gea to Manchester United this summer. And Courtois has now passed a medical in the Spanish capital before completing the necessary paperwork on a season-long loan deal. The promising youngster, who was named Genk's player of the year and Belgium's goalkeeper of the year after helping them win the league title last season, will train with his new team-mates for the first time on Sunday.
