Steve Bruce is planning to discuss Darron Gibson's collapsed transfer with Sir Alex Ferguson.

Black Cats boss to give his take on Gibson saga

Steve Bruce is planning to discuss Darron Gibson's collapsed transfer with Sir Alex Ferguson. The Manchester United midfielder was all set to join Bruce's Sunderland earlier this month, but a move never materialised. Former Red Devils John O'Shea and Wes Brown completed switches to the Stadium of Light, but Gibson was left in limbo. United have aired their frustration at the situation, with Ferguson claiming that Sunderland had 'moved the goalposts'.

Great relationship

He is unable to breathe new life into a deal as he is currently away on United's pre-season tour of the United States. Black Cats boss Bruce appreciates that the situation needs to be addressed and has vowed to discuss the matter with his former manager from his playing days when Ferguson returns to England. He said: "We've always had a great relationship with United. "I know Sir Alex is away at present and I haven't had a chance to catch up with him. But once he's back, I'm sure we'll have a chat and clear things up."
