Sporting Gijon have confirmed that Jose Angel is to leave the club after agreeing a move to Roma.
The Spanish defender heads to the Italian capital for an undisclosed fee.
Manchester City and Barcelona had been linked with the 21-year-old left-back, but he has opted to try his luck in Serie A.
Angel is currently on his way to Italy to link up with his new team-mates and begin pre-season training.
A statement from Sporting Gijon read: "Roma and Sporting Gijon have completed the transfer of Jose Angel to the Italian team.
"The player has already said goodbye to his team-mates and is on his way to the airport to join his new club in pre-season training."
