Striker to miss big chunk of next season

Leeds striker Davide Somma is facing a lengthy lay-off with a cruciate knee injury. The South Africa international underwent a scan earlier this week after sustaining the injury in training. Somma announced the results of the scan on Twitter on Friday night, saying: "Got scan back. Torn my ACL, am going to be out for five to six months." However, manager Simon Grayson remains hopeful the injury may not be as serious as first feared. Grayson told the Yorkshire Post: "Contrary to what has been said on Twitter, it is not confirmed and the timescale could also be very misleading. "We will know more about Davide's injury and the scan results over the next few days, at which time I will be in a better position to comment on the full diagnosis."
