Skysports.com understands Norwich are in talks with Zak Whitbread over a new deal at Carrow Road.
The former Liverpool youngster is entering the final year of his contract after arriving on a two-and-half-year deal from Millwall in January 2010.
The 27-year-old has established himself as a key member of Paul Lambert's side and was instrumental in their promotion to the Premier League last season.
Whitbread made 23 appearances last season as Norwich finished second in the Championship to secure a return to the top flight.
Lambert is keen to keep hold of the American and is ready to offer him a new deal to secure his long-term future.
