Midfielder set to seal United exit

Skysports.com understands Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson. Gibson along with United team-mates Wes Brown and John O'Shea was the subject of a £12million bid from Sunderland. Talks are believed to have progressed well and Gibson has agreed terms to make the move to Stadium of Light. Sunderland value the 23-year-old midfielder at £5million and United are ready to let the midfielder leave. Gibson has reluctantly accepted he will have to quit United in search of regular first-team football and he will hope to kick-start his career on Wearside. The Republic of Ireland international will help fill the void left by Jordan Henderson's departure to Liverpool. Sunderland are now waiting to see if they can agree deals with Brown and O'Shea as they look to make it a triple raid on Old Trafford.
