Petr Cech feels Chelsea can take positives from a frustrating 2-2 draw with Newcastle on Sunday.
The Blues were unable to take maximum points from their final home game of the season, with a late Steven Taylor leveller silencing the Stamford Bridge faithful.
Cech admits the stalemate 'sums up' the Blues' season, as they prepare to head into the summer empty-handed.
The Czech keeper is, however, keen to remain as upbeat as possible, with the Magpies draw allowing Chelsea to wrap up second place in the Premier League and give important minutes to their stars of tomorrow.
"Despite the bad result, I found two positives in it," Cech said on his personal website.
"The first one was that Arsenal were beaten [by Aston Villa], which means we have definitely secured second place in the league.
"The second positive is the performance of our young midfielder [Josh] McEachran. He started the game and did really well.
"Josh only recently turned 18 but if he follows the path he has been on, he is surely destined to become a big player at Chelsea. He is enormously talented, so it is up to him."
Disappointment
Cech believes Chelsea's below-par performance against Newcastle can be put down to the fact that they had already surrendered the Premier League title to Manchester United.
He added: "It seemed to me that in each of us there was still disappointment from not winning the title, as on Saturday Manchester United captured it.
"We wanted badly to win the last match of the season at Stamford Bridge and conceding in the last minute is not the best way to reward our fans, who have supported us all year.
"It somehow sums up our season in the way that there was always something missing for us to finish the job."
