Forward also happy with personal form at the end of current campaign

Salomon Kalou is confident that he can still fulfil his ambition of winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea. Success in Europe was a priority for the Stamford Bridge club this season after winning the domestic Double in 2009/10. But owner Roman Abramovich again saw his dreams shattered after Manchester United dumped Chelsea out in the quarter-finals earlier in April. Some have questioned whether the five-time semi-finalists and one-time defeated finalists will ever be able to go all the way in the Champions League. But Kalou, a 2006 signing from Feyenoord, has no doubts, as he told Chelsea's official website: "The reason I came to Chelsea was to give me the opportunity to win big things.

Freshness

"I have won every domestic trophy with Chelsea and the one thing left is the Champions League, and I think I will be able to achieve that with the club." Meanwhile, Ivory Coast forward Kalou is happy to be finishing the current season strongly from a personal perspective after starting Chelsea's last three matches and scoring two goals. "I always end up the season strong at Chelsea," he said. "I think it is because I don't get many injuries, I am always there for training so my fitness is good and that gives me an advantage to end the season stronger. "When you get to the end of the season, everyone is tired who has played a lot of games with a couple of injuries. "For me who hasn't been playing so much and who hasn't been injured, that has given me the freshness to play."
