Hibs striker's deal talks on hold

Hibernian manager Colin Calderwood has told Derek Riordan he will need to wait until the summer to discover his fate. The club's top scorer this season is one of 11 players who are out of contract at Easter Road in the summer. Many of those players have been informed who will be kept on, although Riordan is yet to hear whether he will be offered fresh terms. Calderwood admits the club have too many players on the books and that he needs to trim his numbers before he can think about fresh signings.

Wait

"We're going to get to the end of the season and sit down and thrash it out," said Calderwood. "We both understand that, we're both happy to clear the games out of the road. Nothing will happen between now and then. "We've got too many players on the books at the minute, so we will reduce the numbers in terms of our first-team squad, definitely. "Ideally we'd be looking at a group round about 20."
