Birmingham midfielder Jordon Mutch has signed a new three-year contract with the club.

England Under-19 international wants to be a Blues star

Jordon Mutch has challenged himself to earn a place in Alex McLeish's Birmingham team after signing a new three-year deal. The 19-year-old midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell with Championship side Watford earlier this season. He returned to St Andrews last month where he made his maiden appearance for the Blues against Manchester United. However, the England Under-19 international admits he may have to go out on loan again in order to give his first-team chances a boost.

Delighted

"I'm delighted to have signed," Mutch told the club's official website. "It has taken a couple of months to sort out but now I'm happy to have a new contract at Birmingham. "Now I'll just aim to keep on training hard, maybe look to go back out on loan again and get a few more games until the end of the season. "Then hopefully I'll come back for pre-season and try and be in and around the first team."
Right place
He added: "I think this is the right place for me at the moment. "The team are doing well, we've got a good manager and the board have invested in new players so I think it's the right place for me. "Birmingham has become a home to me. I've enjoyed every bit of my time at the club and I just want to keep on improving. "Hopefully the next three years will be a good three years for me."
