Villa ace has heard good things about USA international

Stewart Downing is looking forward to USA international Michael Bradley making his debut for Aston Villa. The Premier League club captured the Borussia Monchengladbach man on loan this week prior to the transfer window closing. Bradley returned to Germany to complete the permit paperwork and he is expected to receive international clearance in time to make his debut against Fulham on Saturday. Downing does not know much about Bradley's ability, although he has heard plenty of good words about the 23-year-old from Villa's veteran American keeper Brad Friedel. The former Middlesbrough winger believes Bradley will be a good signing and he was pleased with Jean Makoun's debut in their 2-1 win at Wigan last week.

Good signing

"I've not seen much of Michael Bradley, to be honest," he told the Birmingham Mail. "Obviously I watched him playing a few games at the World Cup and stuff but Brad Friedel has told me he is a really good player. "He is probably someone we need - a kind of midfield destroyer sort of thing, so it is a good signing for us. "I thought Jean Makoun had a very good game for us. I thought he did quite well at Wigan but he was really good at United. "He was strong in the tackle and passed the ball really well so he could be a really good signing for us."
