Lennon keen to land defender before deadline shuts

Celtic are hoping to beat the transfer deadline to sign Stoke defender Abdoulaye Faye. Bhoys boss Neil Lennon is desperate to bolster his backline after seeing Thomas Rogne join the casualty list at Parkhead. Rogne picked up a knock in the weekend win over Aberdeen and he joins Glenn Loovens and Daniel Majstorovic on the sidelines, leaving Lennon short of options in central defence. Lennon has now identified Faye as a possible arrival before Monday's 11pm deadline to help shore up his defence. Faye's future at Stoke has been the subject of speculation for some time with the Senegal man coming to the end of his contract in the summer. The former Newcastle and Bolton man has made only 13 appearances in the first team this season with Ryan Shawcross and Robert Huth keeping him out of the starting XI. Stoke could decide to cash in on Faye rather than risk losing him for nothing at the end of the season.
