Schalke's Croatia international Ivan Rakitic is set to sign for Spanish club Sevilla on Friday.
The 22-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has turned down an improved deal at in Germany for a move to Sevilla.
"The Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic arrived last night (Thursday) and, if everything goes well, he will become a Sevilla player," said a statement on Sevilla's official website.
"The player, with the permission of his current club Schalke, will take a medical on Friday and the contract details are also expected to be finalised so that one of European football's pearls can join the Sevilla squad."
Rakitic, born in Switzerland to Croatian parents, joined Schalke from FC Basel in 2007 and made 95 league outings for the club and international recognition with Croatia.
