Defender keen to link up with Championship leaders

Skysports.com understands Pascal Chimbonda is heading for talks with Queens Park Rangers following his release by Blackburn Rovers. Chimbonda's contract at Ewood Park was cancelled by mutual consent on Thursday after the full-back had made just eight appearances for Rovers this season. He has already attracted interest from Ipswich Town, but is also being chased by Championship leaders QPR, who are in the market for a new right-back. The 31-year-old's agent Willie McKay has confirmed Chimbonda is keen to finalise a deal to join Neil Warnock's table-toppers. "Pascal is going down for talks with QPR after cancelling his contract at Blackburn," McKay told skysports.com. "He is keen to get his career back on track after a tough last six months at Blackburn. "He feels QPR are an ambitious club that matches his own ambitions and he wants to help them win promotion to the Premier League."
