Robert Pires admits Aston Villa's troubles have led to a 'tense and electric' atmosphere within the camp.
The Villans currently find themselves inside the Premier League relegation zone after taking only two wins from their last 15 fixtures.
Gerard Houllier has been unable to bring the best out of an underperforming squad and pressure is now mounting on all concerned.
The perilous predicament Villa find themselves in has unsurprisingly had an adverse affect on team morale, with Pires admitting that Houllier is yet to convince some members of the squad that he is the right man to take the club forward.
"With certain players, it is tense and electric," the former France international told
RMC.

"Not with the whole group but with some, yes. Houllier [brought] a new culture, another way of working. When you have a certain routine and everything is suddenly changed, it is not easy to accept.
"And what's more, we don't win. It's complicated for everyone. And I arrived in the middle of all of this."
Pires was drafted in as a free agent by Houllier in November, but admits he is disappointed to have been restricted to a support role so far.
He added: "It's not easy. I am on the bench and I cannot help the team because I'm not playing. I don't have Gerard Houllier's trust. I don't understand and I think I will go and talk to him.
"Yet, I am giving a lot of effort. I keep working. Even if I am a little disappointed, because I want to play and help my mates. It's frustrating."
