Skysports.com understands Preston North End's Neal Trotman will join former club Oldham Athletic on loan.
The Lilywhites defender has spent the majority of his time away from Deepdale with temporary stints at Colchester United, Southampton and Huddersfield Town.
And Preston boss Darren Ferguson has given Trotman another chance to gain more experience by letting the 23-year-old link up with the club where he started his career.
The centre-back will stay with the Latics until 3rd January and will be included in the League One side's trip to Rochdale on Saturday if the deal goes through before the 5pm deadline on Thursday.
