Black Cats striker in contention to face Everton

Sunderland striker Darren Bent is expected to return to training on Wednesday following a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old could force his way into contention for the Black Cats' Premier League home game against Everton on Monday night. Bent was forced him to miss the victories against Stoke and Chelsea and the draw with Spurs due to the injury. However, the news will prove to be a major boost for manager Steve Bruce who has relied on the club's record signing Asamoah Gyan for goals in his absence. The former Tottenham forward revealed on social networking website Twitter: "First training session back today. Can't wait - am buzzing." Sunderland have been in impressive form since the Tyne-Wear derby hammering at Newcastle, particularly in Sunday's sensational 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge. Gyan has scored four goals in the three games, but the return of Bent will give Bruce a welcome selection headache ahead of the visit of David Moyes' men.
