Defender eagerly anticipating joining up with new team-mates

Bongani Khumalo believes his new side Tottenham Hotspur are heading in the right direction. Spurs have reached an agreement with Supersport United for Khumalo's services, and the defender will join up with the Premier League club in January. The South Africa international is eagerly anticipating the switch, admitting he is excited by the club's future. "I definitely think Spurs are a happening club, they have a real quality about them and they've got big plans for their future," he said. "It's exciting to be part of that. "I think I have the qualities that can benefit the side, both in defence and because I can move forward and score goals." The 23-year-old is also prepared to fight for a place in the first team as he battles against the likes of Ledley King, Michael Dawson and Sebastien Bassong for a starting berth. "I'm very grateful for the opportunity, it's a brilliant chance but I realise there is a lot of hard work ahead of me," he said. "I'm not sure how easy it is going to be to get into the team, I just know that if I want to do well. It means hard work and taking my opportunity when it comes."
