Playmaker staying at Benfica and eyeing international recall

Pablo Aimar is enjoying his renaissance at Benfica and has pledged his future to the club. The 30-year-old Argentine has been a revelation since joining the Portuguese giants, and along with his compatriot Javier Saviola, has been a revelation at the club. Indeed, Aimar's impressive performances have led to rumours of interest from Premier League clubs. But the diminutive genius only has eyes for a recall for the national team, having played only once in three years.

Career

"I have signed a deal which runs until 2012 and perhaps I will stay in Portugal for the rest of my career," Aimar told Portuguese newspaper O Jogo. "I have not spoken to the Argentina coach Sergio Baptista but anything is possible if I continue to play this well. "For me this is a big challenge and it's a possibility while I'm playing well in Europe."
