The midfielder sustained the problem during pre-season and was ruled out of action for six months.

McCann, whose last appearance for the Clarets came in January, has now resumed light training as he closes in on his comeback.

The 23-year-old told Clarets Player: "I've been slowly getting the leg moving again in the gym, and doing a lot of work with Ally (Beattie) and Luke (Bussey) in the physio room, squatting and lunging and just trying to get the knee moving again.

"Things are coming on quite well and the rehab is well under way.

"It's just great to get back in among the lads and to see them, getting the atmosphere and getting the leg going again makes me more eager to get back."
