Allardyce advises Capello to contact keeper

Sam Allardyce believes Fabio Capello should try to persuade Paul Robinson to come out of international retirement. Robinson called time on his England career last month despite being named in the squad for the friendly against Hungary. He explained that he did not want to be considered as a third-choice goalkeeper and as such would concentrate on club matters with Blackburn. Rovers manager Allardyce, who has always championed Robinson's case for England inclusion, does not think his man could have done any more over the past couple of years.

Very comfortable

Allardyce could understand Robinson's decision after being left out of the World Cup squad and now thinks it is up to Capello to make contact over a possible return to the fold. "Robbo is very comfortable with his game and himself at the moment - you could see that in his all-round performance," Allardyce told reporters, after another fine performance from Robinson in the 1-1 draw against Manchester City, when an error from current England No.1 Joe Hart led to Blackburn's goal. "It would be up to Fabio Capello to build bridges and see whether he can talk Paul out of it or not. "But his performances last season never got him in the squad or to the World Cup so he felt he wasn't considered capable of playing in the team."
