French giants rocked by injury to Brazilian midfielder

Lyon could be forced back into the transfer market after seeing Ederson ruled out for several months. The Brazilian midfielder has suffered a ruptured hamstring and could be sidelined for the rest of the season. The Samba star picked up the injury while making his international debut against the United States last week. He is expected to be out of action for between three and eight months, meaning Lyon are going to be left short of midfield options.

Blow

Manager Claude Puel is yet to decide whether or not to bring in reinforcements, but admits he could be tempted to seek a fresh face before the summer window slams shut. "It's a big blow for him, because he had a very good pre-season," said Puel. "This injury is very rare, it is difficult. "We will see what opportunities arise, and if there is one before the end of the transfer window."
