Full-back signs three-year deal after deciding to leave Aberdeen

Charlie Mulgrew has secured a return to Parkhead after signing a three-year contract to join Celtic from Aberdeen. The full-back started his career with the Bhoys, but left to join Wolves in 2006 without making a first-team appearance for the club. He linked up with Aberdeen in 2008 and featured over 80 times during his two seasons at Pittodrie before deciding to leave. Mulgrew had been heavily linked with a move to Sheffield United amid reports he had agreed a three-year deal with the Championship club. However, the 24-year-old has accepted an offer to rejoin Celtic to become Neil Lennon's first signing as manager in the process. "Charlie has signed and I am pretty pleased about that," said Lennon. "He was a kid who was here and went away. "He went to play in England and had a great spell at Aberdeen and outside the Old Firm we felt he was one of the best players in the SPL." The defender is likely to quickly be joined in Lennon's squad by Cha Du-ri, with the South Korea international undergoing a medical ahead of a move.
