Wilson cools interest in Leeds' Sheehan

Swindon Town have confirmed that Michael Rose's impending arrival from Stockport County means they no longer want Alan Sheehan. The Robins were being tipped to secure Sheehan permanently following a successful loan from Leeds United last season. However, with Rose joining from Stockport, Town have confirmed that Sheehan, who is expected to leave Leeds, is no longer required. Wilson was interested in securing former Leicester defender Sheehan permanently, but has hinted the financial aspect proved a stumbling block.

No deal

"The Alan Sheehan thing is not going to go forward," Wilson confirmed to the Swindon Advertiser. "This is the left-back we're going to bring in and I am delighted with Michael. "It's the fact that he is still a Leeds player, believe it or not, and there was a financial impact that came in with that. "We thought we did still need a left-back. We looked around and thought that Michael would be better for us at this stage, so that's why we opted for him."
