Bristol City deny claims playmaker is on transfer list

Bristol City have moved to quash transfer speculation over the future of midfielder Paul Hartley. Hartley had been linked with a move to Hearts after reports in the Scottish press suggested the 33-year-old had been transfer-listed. The Robins have denied any claims that they are willing to part ways with the playmaker, despite overtures from Jambos boss Jim Jeffries. Jeffries was quoted as saying Hartley "is a name that has been put to us and we are aware he is available". But City chief executive Colin Sexstone rubbished any talk of the Scotland international returning north of the border, pointing out that the player still had a year left to run on his existing deal at Ashton Gate. Sexstone told the club's official website: "I'm not sure where these stories come from, but people are playing with words and getting it wrong. "There has been absolutely no dialogue between Bristol City and Hearts and I can say categorically that Paul is not on the transfer list. "He remains an important member of the squad."
