Midfielder inks two-year extension

Scunthorpe midfielder Sam Togwell has signed a new two-year contract at Glanford Park. The 25-year-old, whose previous deal was due to expire at the end of the month, made 41 appearances in the Championship for the Iron last season. Scunthorpe have the option of an extra year on Togwell, who signed from Barnsley for an undisclosed fee in 2008. Togwell revealed he rejected offers from other clubs to stay with Scunthorpe. "I'm very pleased. I've had two very successful years at Scunthorpe and I want to make it a third year," Togwell told the club's official website. "It was a difficult decision because there was interest from other clubs but at this time of my life I felt this was the best deal for me. "Now I know where I'm going to be I can put my head down, work on my fitness and look forward to coming back."
