Clarets boss hoping to keep hold of experienced striker

Burnley manager Brian Laws says it is up to Robbie Blake to decide whether he wants to stay at the club or not. Blake has only netted two goals in 31 Premier League appearances so far this season but is regarded as a fans' favourite at Turf Moor. One of those goals was a superb volley against Manchester United earlier in the campaign and Laws is hoping he will opt to stay at the club in the Championship. "Over the next few days, we will sit down and try with every part of our body to keep our best players," he told the club's official website. "Football is football and there will be comings and goings. "There are a lot of players out of contract and we will be talking to them over the next few days and doing our business in the right manner and not discussing it now. "Robbie is a fantastic footballer, but I certainly think there is a little bit more left and certainly in the Championship I can see him being a very effective player for us. "We have been sitting down with him for the last month or so to try and engage him into staying with us. "We want him to stay at this football club and you heard the supporters today because they want exactly the same. "Let's hope Robbie buys into that and stays a while longer, but the decision will be down to Robbie." Burnley managed to lift spirits with a last-day 4-2 victory over Tottenham on Sunday which left them third from bottom in the league's final standings.
