Rafa Benitez is confident Emiliano Insua will figure again for Liverpool before the end of the season.

Aurelio also closing in on a return to training after spell on the sidelines

Rafa Benitez is confident Emiliano Insua will figure again for Liverpool before the end of the season. The Argentine full-back has torn a muscle in his thigh and it remains unclear how long he will be sidelined for. In his absence, and with Fabio Aurelio also injured, Daniel Agger has been forced to fill in at left-back. He is more than comfortable filling that role, but the Reds are keen to utilise him in his favoured position at centre-half. Aurelio is closing in on a return to first-team training, and could be back by the end of April, but he will be lacking in match practice.

Treatment

Insua, who has been Benitez's first-choice this season, may struggle to fit in another outing before the campaign comes to a close, but Liverpool hope he will be back before they wrap things up against Hull City on 9th May. "Emiliano is doing well but it's a bad injury so we have to wait. He's working and having treatment," Benitez said. "He tore his quadriceps. He could play again this season if the treatment is good. It will be difficult but we'll see - we're trying very hard. "Fabio is doing well too. Maybe in one week or 10 days he can be ready to train with the team. If Fabio can be ready it will be very important."
