Italian shot-stopper unhappy with rumours, says agent

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is annoyed at rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City, according to his agent. The 32-year-old is under contract with Juve until June 2013, but has recently been linked with a move to Eastlands, with mega-rich City reportedly in the frame. City were rumoured to be considering a 35million euros offer to land the experienced shot-stopper after this summer's World Cup. However, Buffon's agent Silvano Martina says such reports have no foundation. "Gigi (Buffon) is very annoyed because those rumours have no foundation," he told Corriere dello Sport. City have been big spenders in the transfer market over the past couple of years, taking Robinho, Carlos Tevez, Patrick Vieira and Roque Santa Cruz to the Blue half of Manchester. Buffon is currently sidelined with an injury and is expected to return at the end of the month. But Martina says he will not be rushed back, despite an injury to No.2 Alex Manninger. He added: "Gigi will return at the end of this month and certainly he doesn't speed up timing because of Manninger's injury."
