Blackburn keeper faces scan to determine calf problem

Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson's season hangs in the balance as he awaits a scan on a calf injury. The one-time England international was substituted after 25 minutes of Rovers' 3-1 defeat to his former club Tottenham on Saturday and the club are yet to discover the extent of the injury. A lengthy absence could spell the end of Robinson's faint hopes of earning an international recall ahead of this summer's World Cup in South Africa. "It is not clever, he has a calf injury," revealed Rovers boss Sam Allardyce. "We will have it scanned to see the extent of the tear. Then we will judge how long it will take to repair before we get him back fit and well." Jason Brown, 27, replaced Robinson at White Hart Lane, but the injury could leave Rovers short of options between the sticks with no other senior keeper left in the squad. Allardyce may be forced to recall one of two on-loan keepers in Mark Bunn and Frank Fielding, currently plying their trade at Sheffield United and Rochdale respectively.
