Arsenal youngster badly hurt in Shawcross challenge

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered a horrific broken leg in the Gunners' Premier League clash at Stoke. Ramsey was hurt following a crunching challenge with Ryan Shawcross, who was shown an immediate red card and left the pitch in tears at the realisation of how serious the problem was. Players from both sides frantically gestured for urgent medical attention with the 19-year-old Wales international in clear distress as he lay on the field. Ramsey received immediate help with his leg stabilised before he was stretchered off to warm but concerned applause and into a waiting ambulance which left the Britannia Stadium to take him to hospital. Numerous Arsenal players were left with their heads in their hands after the incident with the Potters team also clearly shaken by what they had witnessed. The injury was all-too reminiscent of the injury sustained by Ramsey's team-mate Eduardo at Birmingham almost exactly two years ago. The Brazil-born Croatia international, who was among the substitutes at the Britannia Stadium, endured a long road back to full fitness after initial fears for his career. Ramsey must now hope that he too can make a similar comeback but is certain to miss the remainder of this season and a significant chunk of next term.
