Millwall boss Kenny Jackett hopes to agree a deal to keep Wolves defender Darren Ward for the rest of the season.

Jackett keen to ensure he has defensive cover in the New Year

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett is hoping to agree a deal to keep Wolves defender Darren Ward on loan for the rest of the season. Ward has made 10 appearances for the Lions since returning to The Den, but his initial loan expired after Monday's 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers. He is out of the picture back at Wolves and Jackett is planning to hold talks with his Molineux counterpart Mick McCarthy regarding an extension for Ward. "We are going to look to extend and keep Darren, definitely," Jackett told the News Shopper. "There are people on four bookings and we do seem to lose defenders, although we've got some options there. "Going into the New Year now it is obviously crucial for us and for him, but there hasn't been any pressure on us from Wolves to play him. "We will have to see, but maybe we can secure something until the end of the season."
