Fiorentina keeper not approached by Premier League champions

Sebastien Frey's agent has played down speculation that the Fiorentina goalkeeper could join Manchester United in January. The 29-year-old is the latest keeper to have been linked with a move to Old Trafford as Sir Alex Ferguson ponders a long-term successor to Edwin van der Sar. Veteran Dutch shot-stopper Van der Sar has yet to indicate whether this season will be his last, while his understudies Tomasz Kuszczak and Ben Foster have not fully convinced. Schalke's Manuel Neuer and CSKA Moscow's Igor Akinfeev have been mooted as United targets, and Frey's name has now been thrown into the frame. The former France international has impressed since joining Fiorentina from Parma in 2005 and has a release clause of 18million Euros (£16million). He is under contract until 2013, and has not been the subject of an approach from United, according to his representative Giovanni Branchini. "I don't know about Manchester United," Branchini told tuttomercatoweb.com. "We have not been contacted."
