Lilywhites midfielder making positive progress in rehabilitation

Barry Nicholson is hoping to return to training with Preston North End before the busy Christmas period. The midfielder broke two bones in his right leg against Peterborough in August and has been out of action ever since. He is, however, looking to be back in Alan Irvine's first-team plans early next year. He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I'm still getting a bit of discomfort in the leg and it doesn't feel too secure at times, but I'm told that's how the healing process is, so I'm not too worried. "It is frustrating, but I'm probably over the worst now and when I start to run again then I'll be able to kick on. "I certainly hope to be training before or just after Christmas."
